12 V Coffee Maker is Just Not For Everyone

!±8± 12 V Coffee Maker is Just Not For Everyone

Firstly, for those that do not know about 12 v coffee maker, then it is obvious that you do not need one. These 12 volts machine are designed for those that are frequently on the road or when one needs good filter coffee while out camping.

So, if you are someone that are just brewing coffee in a home environment, this article probably have nothing to do with you, although you are most welcome to read and learn more about the types of coffee brewers out in the market.

As I was mentioning, even if you are looking for a coffee machine that is mobile and would be able to brew you good coffee on the road, the twelve volts coffee brewer is not for everyone.

Firstly, for those that are looking for something fast and cannot wait for coffee to be brew, then do not get these machines! This is because, the average brew time of a 12 volts machine is about 45 minutes and the fastest is 30 minutes.

Personally, these 12 v coffee machines received one of the highest negative feedback compared to any other brewers, mainly on the time that it takes to brew coffee. Can you imagine wanting to drink coffee, you set up everything and would only be able to drink almost an hour later?

So, if you are looking for something fast to prepare, then cowboy coffee (this is the term for coffee prepared over open fire) or instant coffee would be a faster fix.

Secondly, if you are someone that are not familiar with the engines or your vehicles, what is the supply of your battery and how to run the engines to attained higher current supply, then this coffee maker is definitely not for you.

I have seen cases where folks brought their coffee makers back to the shop highlighting that the machine is not complete, that it does not comes with the relevant plug. The fact is, these folks do not know that it is supposed to be plug into the cigarette hole.

And lastly, if you are someone that is particular about hot coffee, then do note that this mobile brewer would disappoint you from time to time. There are too many variables for it to be working in optimum condition.

It ranges from the power of your vehicle battery to the external environment, that it is almost impossible to be brewing under the same condition every time. So, if you are one that expects perfect coffee every time, hopefully this would be able to manage your expectations.

Personally, if I would to recommend a 12 v machine, it has to be the road pro, they are by far the most popular and while they are not without problems, they have far more positive feedback when compared to other brands.

Other than the road pro, another brand which has pretty good feedback is the cuisinart 12 volt coffee maker, this brewer comes with a thermal carafe, so it is able to brew and provide hot coffee for a longer period of time.

So, if you fit into the personality highlighted above, then maybe you should consider other forms of coffee brewing, so as not to spoil your trip. Otherwise, the 2 brands of coffee machines are some models you can consider while shopping for one...

10 Timeless Tips to a Perfect Cup of Coffee

!±8± 10 Timeless Tips to a Perfect Cup of Coffee

Few quests in human history have so captivated men and women from around the world than the search for the perfect cup of coffee. Yes, believe it or not, coffee connoisseurs have dedicated entire lifetimes in the pursuit of finding that one cup of the most heavenly coffee ever made. If you're like most people, however, you're just looking for an easy way to make a great-tasting cup of coffee to help get you started in the morning. The following 10 Timeless Tips to a Perfect Cup of Coffee should help you on you your mini-quest.

1. You Get What You Pay For

When it comes to coffee makers, quality counts. If you buy the cheapest coffee maker on the market, chances are you'll end up with an equally "discounted" flavor in your cup. To assure yourself of great tasting coffee day after day, check out the Bunn, Cuisinart, Mr. Coffee, Krups, and Senseo brands. Alternatively, check out a French press. For that personal cup of coffee, you can never go wrong with a French press!

2. Clean as a Whistle

You wouldn't cook your favorite entrée in a dirty pan, would you? So, why are so many people surprised by how bad their homemade coffee tastes when they use the same coffee pot every day out without ever cleaning it? Try baking soda and water for great cleanse after every pot you make.

3. It's All in the Bean

If you aren't grinding your own coffee, where have you bean? The best tasting coffees come from freshly ground, top quality beans. You can savor the flavor of gourmet barista-style coffees right in your own home by simply grinding up small batches of your own brew. To top off the perfect cup, you'll want to use Arabica beans-simply the best in the world! Store your beans and ground coffee in an airtight container in a cool, dark place at a temperature between 50º and 70º F.

4. Roasted and Toasted-Making the "Most-est" Flavor

Once you've decided upon the highest quality beans, you'll want to consider how you like your beans roasted. Roasting releases the flavor of the bean and helps determine whether your coffee is mellow, rich, or smooth. Experiment with a variety of roasts and choose which one you like best!

5. Grind It Up

Despite the fact that many store-bought coffees say "For All Coffeemakers," selecting the right grind for your coffee maker is key to crafting that perfect cup. A general guideline for grinds includes:

· Automatic drip: medium grind

· Plunger or French press: coarse grind

· Percolator: coarser grind

· Espresso maker: fine grind

6. What's in Your Water?

When it comes to coffee, fresh is the name of the game and, believe it or not, fresh water will make a world of difference in every cup. Think about it: Since your coffee is 99% water, you'll want to make sure you choose the best tasting water you can find. Bottled, distilled, or purified water seems to do the trick for H2O-conscious countless coffee connoisseurs.

7. Measure It

To assure yourself of perfection every time, you'll want to make sure you spoon out the correct amount of coffee grinds. Of course, your personal taste preference should be the ultimate judge, but a general rule of thumb is 1 to 2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every six ounces of water.

8. Bling, Bling in Your Coffee?

While we're not talking diamonds or platinum, using gold (or stainless steel) mesh filters in your coffee maker will go a long way toward keeping your cup of coffee tasting great. Many paper filters release bleaches, chlorine, and dyes that can leave you with a bitter cup of coffee. If you must use paper, go with unbleached filters for the best results.

9. Brew It Up Right

A key to great tasting coffee every time is making sure your water is "off the boil"-a fancy term that simply means "not quite to boiling." To achieve this water temperature, bring your water to a boil and then let it cool down for few moments (195-205° F) and you'll assure yourself of a perfect cup every time.

10. Drink It Down in Style

Drink your freshly brewed, gourmet coffee in a glass or porcelain mug. Unless you like the bitter taste, avoid reheating your coffee in either the microwave or on the stove.

If you keep brewing with these ten timeless tips in mind, you're sure to find your cup runneth over with great tasting coffee every time!

Tips About How to Make Good Coffee

!±8± Tips About How to Make Good Coffee

Learning how to make good coffee isn't really that hard, but it does take a little knowledge and commitment to following a few universal practices from others who brew great coffee. Coffee drinking is almost as common as drinking water and is a very important part of many people's day from the time they get up in the morning until perhaps their after dinner latte in the evening. Just as people who love to cook follow many good chef's advice about certain dishes, if you want to make delicious coffee, then you should follow these basic tips.

While there are several things to consider regarding making good coffee such as what kind of coffee maker to choose and what type of beans to select, these are really a matter of preference for each person. But there are a couple of things that are really basic to making good coffee no matter what kind of coffee maker you use or what type of coffee beans you select.

As simple as it may sound, the water that you use is very important in producing very good coffee. Some people can use water straight from their tap because it is either fresh well water or very good tasting, pure water. However, in many parts of the country a lot of tap water is laden with chlorine or other foul tastes that can corrupt your fresh brewed coffee no matter how expensive your appliance and coffee beans are. So, the first rule of thumb in making good coffee is to use quality water in every cup of java you brew. If you have to install a drinking water filter on your kitchen tap, it is well worth your investment. Perhaps you will need to purchase quality water for your coffee. In any case, choose good tasting water to make your coffee.

Secondly, choose good coffee beans. That doesn't necessarily mean that you have to choose a high end, gourmet bean, but it does mean that you need to select fresh coffee beans. It's usually best to buy coffee beans that are whole and that are not displayed in an open bin such as what you may find in a grocery store. Perhaps purchase coffee beans from a gourmet shop that has them stored in an airtight container. Also, only purchase enough beans for the week. The longer you store them, the more they loose their original flavor. Then, be sure to only grind the amount of beans that you need each day for your coffee. This will provide the most flavor since the oils and natural taste is not diluted by grinding the beans ahead of time.

It is not that hard to make good coffee if you follow these simple tips. However, you'd be surprised at how many people wonder why their expensive coffee beans and high end coffee maker does not yield better tasting coffee. Learning how to make good coffee is easy and simple if you stick to the basics of good brewing methods.

BUNN BTX-B ThermoFresh 10-Cup

There is a saying that you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your price. This has been our experience with other coffee makers....from Mr. Coffee 12-Cup Programmable Cone Coffeemaker, Black to Black & Decker to everything in-between. Finally we decided to bite-the-bullet and buy a Bunn. The Bunn BXT-B is not for everyone and if you don't plan on brewing a pot every few days you may shun the fact that the Bunn is always on - it really is an expense. One thing to recognize - please follow the initial set-up guide (I briefly describe it in the video) if you do NOT follow the initial set-up you will likely ruin your Bunn and void your warranty. Things that I like - Brew coffee fast.... like 3-minutes fast - I have time to brew a *few* pots in the morning prior to going to work. - Great Taste - much better than the traditional drip-through method. - The thermal carafe is awesome - Bunn states that it will keep the coffee hot for 90 minutes, but I find it drinkable for much longer than that. - Doesn't steam while brewing - makes it much safer for my cabinets - Hot water on Demad - just pout the desired amount of water into the top and catch the hot water at the bottom (great for tea..... although it may be a touch warm for hot chocolate). - Bunn quality - I expect to own this thing for 10 years Things that you should know PRIOR to purchasing - Again, this thing is always on... always pulling electricity - Requires Bunn filters - You probably will want to buy whole ...
