I'm not a professional chef, but in my daily cooking I found that I use the same five gadgets almost every time I cook. They have simplified my life and were very inexpensive for the amount of service they provide. These gadgets have saved my cooking and made me look like I actually know what I am doing.
The Magic Bullet- I use this little gadget to prepare all sorts of things. For breakfast, I prepare muffins, scrambled eggs, omelets, and the list could go on and on. I also use it for sandwiches like chicken salad sandwiches and other things for lunch. Probably my favorite thing to do is make pesto sauce from scratch for my pasta. The Magic Bullet is kind of like an upside down blender that is really easy to clean. I got mine in a starter package with lots of attachments for .00USD. Zak Designs E-Z-Rol Garlic Peeler- I cannot tell you how much time and frustration this little device has saved me. I bought this garlic peeler at a clearance event for .50USD and I use it almost every day. I believe it is made out of silicone, or perhaps it is rubber. It is a small tube that you insert a clove of garlic in and roll it back and forth. I mean it takes seconds to remove the peel now, when it used to take me forever and my hands would stink like Garlic. Garlic Genius- I believe I paid around .00USD for this kitchen golden gadget and have enjoyed it ever since. I don't know if a pattern is emerging here, but I was really frustrated with cooking with garlic. I liked the taste of cooking with fresh garlic, but did not like the hassle. This thing minces garlic in seconds with no fuss. Unbreakable French Coffee Press- I can go on and on about this addition to my kitchen. This one device has single handedly revolutionized my morning cup of coffee. No electricity is required and you can brew your very own pressed coffee. The coffee never passes through a filter so there is no loss of taste. Even if you are a coffee beginner, this type of brewing method can make you seem like a professional. Pampered Chef Can Opener- This one may seem a little expensive, because I paid about .00USD, but it was worth every penny. I have used this can opener on even the most difficult cans and it gets them open with no problem. This saves me time and from cleaning up messes. It opens the cans in a unique way in that there is no sharp edge after the can is open. Just try one and you will want to buy one.
It is my hope that my experience with these kitchen gadgets will help someone out there and ignite a passion for cooking and living life. I welcome comments from anyone who would like to contribute to the list of things that make their cooking life easier.
